Healthier Glazed Ham

For the ham:

  • 4 lb pork leg / ham hock / pork shank
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup of water

For the glaze:



                    1 - Preheat oven to 400 F

                    2 - Score the pork, diagonally & season with salt and black pepper

                    3 - Place into a tray, add in a bit of water and cover with foil

                    4 - Roast in the oven for 1 hour

                    5 - Meanwhile, prepare the glaze: in a soup pot add butter and maple syrup

                    6 - Let them melt and then add in the mustard, ginger, and cayenne pepper

                    7 - Mix thoroughly and add the orange juice

                    8 - Cook on low heat until thick, about 5 minutes

                    9 - After the ham has roasted for 1 hour, take it out, remove the foil and brush on the glaze; return to oven for 10 minutes

                    10 - Repeat the glazing process 3-4 times, every 10 minutes until ham is crispy
